On December 23, with the support of the Provincial Foreign Friends Association and implemented by the Provincial Disease Control and Prevention Center, the "Heart to Heart, Yunnan Journey" Bangladesh School Drinking Water Purification System Project, which was completed and accepted at the Udong School affiliated with the University of Dhaka, held a handover ceremony. Li Shaopeng, Cultural attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Ding Wenfei, Director of the Provincial Disease Control and Prevention Center, Mohammed Ali Rakhman, principal of Udong School, Yang Hui, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, and school teachers and students jointly witnessed this moment of friendship and health.

Li Shaopeng, counselor, said the project is not only a sincere support from Yunnan Province to the education cause and the health of adolescents in Bangladesh, but also a vivid reflection of China and Bangladesh's practice of the "Healthy Silk Road" and deepening people-to-people exchanges under the framework of "the Belt and Road".

Principal Rahaman stated that access to safe and clean drinking water is a fundamental right for every student and is crucial for the health and education of children. The project symbolizes the friendship, cooperation, and shared responsibility between Bangladesh and China, and the school will properly maintain and make good use of this precious gift to benefit teachers and students in the long term, and to help children grow up healthily.

The drinking water purification system handed over this time adopts reverse osmosis membrane technology, which can effectively remove impurities and harmful substances in water. The water quality out of the system has been tested to meet the safety standards for drinking water. It effectively solves the problem of safe drinking water for more than 500 teachers and students of the school, and will continue to protect the healthy growth of children. The project also distributed bilingually published drinking water safety knowledge science popularization brochures to teachers and students in school, carried out health knowledge popularization and equipment practical operation training, took water as the medium and health as the bridge, and contributed to deepening practical cooperation between China and Cambodia in the fields of education and health.

" Heart to Heart, Yunnan Journey" is a "small but beautiful" people's livelihood public welfare project implemented by the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Foreign Friendship in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean region. From 2022 to 2025, a total of 8 projects were implemented in Bangladesh, covering clean drinking water, assistance in education, green energy, medical and health services, emergency management, and other fields. This has made a contribution to Yunnan in helping to make the high-quality co-construction of the "Belt and Road" more perceptible and accessible, and in composing a new chapter of China-Bangladesh friendly cooperation.
