In recent years, Yunnan Province and Bali Province of Indonesia have deepened agricultural cooperation with rice as the medium, and built a bridge of hearts between the two peoples with "one rice".
In 2024, the "Heart to Heart, Yunnan Journey" project made its first foray into Indonesia, launching an organic rice cultivation project in Tabanan Regency, Bali. The project provided farmers in the central Jati鲁维 region of Bali with organic rice seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural machinery equipment, and conducted technical training in organic farming, offering guidance from seed selection to terminal sales, thereby driving the development of local organic ecological agriculture.
A year later, the "Heart-Connected Yunnan Journey" project returned to Indonesia, and the two sides jointly launched the Organic Rice Cultivation and Ecological Agricultural Tourism Cooperation Demonstration Project in Bali. On the basis of continuing to promote the planting of organic rice, the project explores the local ecological, agricultural, and cultural resource advantages, creates new rural tourism formats such as "Farmland Coffee Shop" and farming experience, and injects new impetus into local rural development.
Zhang Junlei, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial Chamber of Commerce Representative Office in Indonesia (Jakarta), introduced that the Bali Ecological Agricultural Tourism Cooperation Demonstration Zone project in Indonesia will fully introduce the "agriculture + tourism" integrated development model on the basis of continuing to promote organic rice planting. According to the plan, 30% of the project funds will be used for agricultural capacity building, including the promotion of high-yielding and high-quality rice varieties, the introduction of agricultural machinery, and the organization of systematic training; the remaining 70% will be invested in the construction of rural tourism, creating features such as field trails, observation decks, and coffee shacks to help the local area achieve a win-win situation between economic and ecological benefits.
In the future, Yunnan and Bali, Indonesia will continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of green agriculture, eco-tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, explore replicable and promoteable development paths, and provide Yunnan experience and Bali samples for regional sustainable development.
