December 16th to 19th, 2025, organized by the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Foreign Friendship, the Youth League of Yunnan Province, and the Yunnan Province Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, with the guidance of the Yunnan Civil Society International Friendship Exchange Foundation, The Youth League Committee of Xishuangbanna StateThe event of the China-Laos Youth Heart-to-Heart Journey - "Heart of the Rainforest・Colorful Border" National Gate Youth Research Camp, jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Xishuangbanna State People's Government, was held smoothly. 44 Lao youth students studying in Xishuangbanna participated in this event, jointly building a friendly exchange platform for mutual learning and joint development of China-Laos youth.

Cultural Root-seeking and Ecological Sympathy: Deepening in Practical Experience

This study tour, adopting an approach of "immersive experience + inquiry-based learning," integrates the unique natural ecology, ethnic culture, and border development of Xishuangbanna into the practical classroom. International students visit the Xishuangbanna Ethnic Museum, delving into the ecological wisdom contained in the "water culture" of the Dai people through thematic explanations; they also visit the traditional Dai village of "Sanman," experiencing firsthand the architectural skills of the dry-type houses and the intangible cultural heritage of Dai brocade, Dai pottery, and ancient papermaking, deepening their emotional recognition of the "same roots and sources, mutual support" among the cross-border ethnic groups in China and Laos. The students also visit the Xishuangbanna Tropical Flower Garden and Xishuangbanna Shennong Biotechnology Co., Ltd., to conduct on-site investigations of the "rubber-forestry economy" intercropping model, truly comprehending the concept of ecological civilization that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," and share the youth responsibility for cross-border ecological conservation.

Industrial Empowerment and Skills Co-Creation: Matching Development in On-site Visits

Based on the location and industrial advantages of the cross-border area in Xishuangbanna, the activities organized the international students to go deep into the first-line sites such as the Dai Medical Hospital of Xishuangbanna State, the Digital Tea Operation Center of Menghai County, the Mengbala International Tourism and Vacation Zone, the Menghai Dayi Tea Factory, and the Xishuangbanna Yunxiang Wood Industry Technology Co., Ltd., to systematically understand the innovative practices such as e-commerce live broadcasting, tea tourism integration, the combination of traditional crafts and modern production, and the circular economic system, and to investigate the training mechanism for young technical talents. Through the practice platform of "government-enterprise-university" collaborative linkage, it effectively promoted the dialogue and cooperation between Chinese and Lao youth in the fields of industrial development, technology innovation, etc., and laid a solid foundation for in-depth collaboration between the two sides in industrial docking and entrepreneurship innovation in the future.

Youthful hearts together with the future: Building friendship through mutual learning of civilizations.

With the main line of cultural integration, the activities publicized the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee to the international students, and carried out the traditional Chinese and Lao operas, clothing and dance exhibition, "China-Laos Solidarity·Ink Moistens Chinese Characters" youth night school, ethnic epic performance and viewing, and other interactive links, to promote the friendship between the two countries' youth in the mutual learning of civilizations. The symposium focused on issues such as "The Responsibility of Youth in China-Laos Cultural Mutual Learning" and "The Opportunities of Youth in Regional Cooperation", and exchanged views. Everyone unanimously believed that the in-depth docking of China's "Belt and Road" initiative and Laos' "Landlocked Country to Land-Linked Country" strategy has created precious opportunities for the growth and success of the youth of the two countries, and China-Laos cooperation will surely achieve more fruitful results.

This event is another practical measure to deepen the exchange between Chinese and Lao youth by the Youth League of Xishuangbanna State Committee. Through the integrated model of "study + practice + integration", it helps Lao youth deeply perceive the vitality of development and the charm of culture in China's border areas, and also builds a long-term interaction platform for the youth of both countries. Next, the Youth League of Xishuangbanna State Committee will continue to create the "Youth Flies on the Silk Road" exchange brand, innovate carriers, enrich connotations, and promote more Chinese and Lao youth to become envoys of bilateral friendship, participants and promoters of cooperative development, and continuously inject youthful strength into the construction of a community of shared future between China and Laos.
