From September 5th to 14th, 2025, under the guidance of the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Foreign Friendship and organized by the Xishuangbanna State People's Government, the 2025 China-Laos Border People's Grand Reunion series of activities were successfully held and concluded in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna State.

Focus on the China-Laos Railway to promote integration and development together.

On September 12th, the "Co-conceiving the New Chapter of the Silk Road and Drawing the Blueprint of China-Laos Cooperation" was held along the China-Laos Railway. Sun Lu, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy Mayor of Xishuangbanna State, proposed three initiatives to strengthen economic and trade linkage, cultural and tourism integration, and people's livelihood cooperation. Experts from both sides made suggestions and contributions on the topics of China-Laos Railway cooperation and high-quality development of the "Belt and Road". At the meeting, the Mengla County Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Udomsai Province signed multiple cooperation documents such as the "Memorandum of Cross-border Tourism Cooperation", and Mengla County and the nine counties in northern Laos jointly issued the "Initiative for Establishing a Comprehensive Cooperative Relationship" and held the donation ceremony and the unveiling ceremony of the "Dream Realization" assistance project, further tightening the bond of practical cooperation between the two sides.

Deepening Economic and Trade Cooperation; Empowering Youthful Power

On September 12th, the China-Laos Chamber of Commerce Economic Seminar, themed "Gathering Entrepreneurs for Cooperation and Pooling Wisdom for Mutual Benefit", was successfully held. The conference focused on economic and trade and logistics cooperation, striving to build a platform for government-enterprise communication, and jointly explored the use of RCEP policy benefits to promote the construction of the radiation center. The "China-Laos Youth Talk" roundtable meeting brought together young representatives from both countries, who engaged in in-depth dialogue around the theme "Youth Power Empowers the 'Belt and Road'". They also reached an intention to build a future partnership, injecting youthful vitality into bilateral cooperation.

On September 10th, the staff technical and skilled personnel exchange activities with the theme of "Drinking the Same River Water and Connecting Two Countries with Craftsmanship" were held in Jinghong City. Representatives from the Federation of Trade Unions of the Six Provinces of Laos and Chinese vocational colleges gathered to promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of automotive repair technology standard docking, vocational qualification mutual recognition, safety and environmental protection norms, etc. During the period, the two sides jointly unveiled the Vocational Skills Training Alliance, and worked together to build a new highland for the growth of skilled personnel.

On September 6th, the "Painting the Beauty of the Rainforest in Mengla" joint field study and plein air painting event for Chinese, Lao, and Thai artists was held in Mengla. The event, with the main focus on showcasing the beauty of the rainforest ecology in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin, invited artists from the three countries to deeply explore the rainforest, visit the Wangtianmu scenic area, Manling Village, Chengzi Village, Daka Village, and the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc., to carry out a week-long field study and creation, using painting as a medium to write a grand chapter of people's hearts connecting.

From September 5th to 14th, the five-a-side football tournament attracted 15 football teams from both China and abroad. The "Rainforest Cup" badminton open invitation tournament was also held, featuring teams from Laos' Southern Province and Vientiane Province competing alongside 13 Chinese teams. These two events not only showcased high-level competition but also conveyed the concepts of healthy living and friendship, further deepening the cultural and sports exchanges between the two sides.The series of activities of the 2025 China-Laos People-to-People Big Festival are based on the communication of hearts and minds, take the form of multi-exchange, and are supported by pragmatic cooperation.
